Griff Rice Jonesy TV prog.

Saw him during the pageant with Toksvig and others - I think they entered into the 'spirits' a little early!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to the program.:)

I was with Seajet, sat in a pub in Bermondsey yesterday lunchtime. We saw a Narrow Boat enjoying the tide.

Shame about it being shot in Essex,we do it so much better down here in Kent

I was down in Faversham recently on a tour of the brewery and wandered down to the waters edge and saw one of these Thames Barges in a home made sort of dry dock.
Always fancied a day out on one of these and was wondering if you had any knowledge of who I can contact.
Thanks
Phill

I had a long weekend on 'Reminder' years ago. It was ok but we didn't sail much because the skipper had an Open University exam coming up and wanted to revise for it!

I think a firm called Topsail Charters offers barge trips.

We hired Greta for the day,but they do a trip out when they get enough people to make up a party.Great day out for sailors and non sailors alike.A very stable platform for those with no sea legs and all the blimming tea you can put up with.Bring your own booze and grub to keep costs down.
There is also a barge doing trips which has no engine, came "flying" past us in the Swale

Our club booked "Alice" for a day last summer. Although she is a Thames barge she is now based at Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth. We had an excellent day's sailing, going across to Cowes for lunch. You can find details at http://www.4charter.co.uk/thames-sailing-barge/

There's also the Thames Barge Sailing Trust usually based in Maldon, with Centaur and Pudge. They do weekends or weeks, bring your own party or 'book a berth', at very reasonable rates.

Because the design requirement is only for a man and boy to sail them, fifteen or so people on board can make you a bit of a passenger, but TBST try to get you involved.
