James, in your final photo, I think you have finally found the answer to keeping on top of wooden boat maintenance: cloning!

One of my wife's photo competition shots. many hand make light work! There are only a few times a year when being an octopus would be useful. I have just noticed that I have a bandaged left hand. That was becuase, while a friend drilling out floor bolts, I hand my hand in the wrong place on the inside! Oops.

...but I can't envy him the thankless outlay he describes so clearly. I'd feel uncomfortable, knowing the maintenance was never complete.

But, by all accounts he's rich as Croesus (see below), so it's nice if a lot of his money goes to classic boat builders & restorers.
