Greymouth Bar - New Zealand - Rough Weather boat handling!!

I need a translator James, what language was he speaking :D (country Kiwi)

10 knots of tide and 8 knots of boat speed, and finding any quiet eddies didn't look much of an option, that's a fun way of spending an afternoon.

The water colour looked like it was running out of a gravel quarry.

Can't understand the single paravane on the portside, you'd think it would unbalance the even flow of the boat.

It's a widely accepted fact locally to treat a (notorious) barway that's working hard, with the greatest respect, or endure the consequences, which can mean anything between loss of boat, to loss of life.

....and yes our country cousins do get the rough end of the pineapple with colloquial humour :D
