Greetings from Yarmouth

Glad all seems to be under control.
To stop getting yourself getting into that sort of predicament again you need to appoint a shore based weather and routing adviser.
I know TCM used one for his trans-at, maybe you should get in touch with him! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Had a great sail round the Island on Saturday and set off midday Sunday and had a wild sail back to Gosport (should really have put the second reef in, but the helm was enjoying himself so much and I wanted to see just how much of the lee rail he could put under the water).

On a more sober note when we put the VHF on around midnight on return from the castle Solent CG and RNLI were going crazy on ch 67. Solent controlling at least 3 separate lifeboats we could hear. Filthy night and my admiration for those guys going out and sounding so professional and calm and aware of what they're doing.

Yes, cheers will try to contact tcm's weather guru in future

Meanwhile all is now tranquility here and we're going to slip out in the early hours, sbs style

Hope you got back ok. We left Y bouys on Sun morn with the Sail Training boats and it built from halfway up Western Solent. Good blast into Hamble and saw over 30kts on the pontoon at Swanwick. Returned to Chi today creeping along the coast in the lee of land.
Brian

Back safely thanks

We also left Yarmouth Sunday morning but turned back when the non-sailors started going green. They weren't enjoying it at all although I think conditions were better E of Cowes at that time
