Greenline hybrid.

The draft of the Greenline is actually quoted as less than the draft on our current Sealine.

Of course with the S23 we have the option of raising the leg to greatly reduce the draft if needs be but we rarely find this necessary.

Agreed it isn't the ideal shape for taking the ground, as can be seen below:



But we try and avoid grounding our current boat so I'm not sure much would change with another boat!

It's a shame if the two fins aren't structurally able to support the stern of the boat.

Several sailing boats dry out on a shortened keel and the two rudders forming a triangle which is steady enough to dry out.

Since the prop is clear of the ground, this could have been a unique and quite desirable feature.

Sorry missed this, I went to see one and was, like you, keen on the low noise from the Diesel engine. I would confirm that the VW engine this one had (not a hybrid) was lower than other boats I looked at around the same time (NC9, Swift Trawler 34) but the engine has a fan running whenever it is on that was very obtrusive in the cabin. It may be that low engine noise made you more aware but it was a most annoying noise rather than a reassuring boat engine noise. For me (personal I know) it was annoying enough that I removed it from my list as I couldn't have lived with the noise but you may be less irritated by it so recommend you try it as soon as you can as imho it negates any low engine noise benefits.
I did question whether it was just this one or if the fan needed fixing/adjusting but the broker indicated they were all that loud.

I am also considering the NC9, so out of the two I wonder which you felt more refined in regards to engine noise?

I will caveat this by saying I'm currently on a MF755 so outboard and it is quiet to the point you don't think the engine is on at idle or displacement speed so I have an unrealistic starting point but the NC9 was no louder than I've experienced with other diesel engined wheelhouse boats and perfectly within the acceptable level. Being a sterndrive the engine being to the behind the cabin does help that but it is noticeable in the cabin even at idle which is no surprise. Interestingly I found the Swift Trawler 34, even being shaft drive and therefore more in the cabin, a very quiet boat for what it's worth.
It is all down to personal taste but between Greenline 33 and NC9 even with the 3feet or so extra on the Greenline I'd prob go NC9 but I'm more used to Jeanneau and also do place a lot on a dealer presence and our marine has a Jeanneau dealer which would definitely sway my decision. NC11 is lovely too.... if you don't want a flybridge boat. My last comment would be that to avoid sterndrive I would potentially look at the MF855 with a number of the benefits and the quietness of an outboard but a big 'issue' is where you store the tender over a stern or shaft boat.

That is what I thought but the broker said they couldn't be switched off and would be on all the time. Might be worth checking but I was told no.

They usually have a switch somewhere.

ETA: If there isn't a switch it wouldn't be a difficult job to fit one.

Wow. I particularly like the aerodynamic hardtop, hydraulically lifting canopy extension and oversized side windows. Is it going to be at SIBS this year?
 
Update about Greenlines.

Yesterday in Minden, Germany a Greenline 33 exploded and injured 16 firemen. Fortunately no further casualties. The explosion happened after some smoke was seen billowing from the boat. The firemen did just board the boat when the explosion happened. The boat was indeed a hybrid model. I did google a bit, because I was playing with the idea to install e-motors (without removing my CATs 3208) on my boat. Thought that Greenlines could give some inspiration for my transformation, and found that it wasn't the first Greenline burning down. For example here in 2012:

I love the hybrid concept, especially the possibility to leave a berth early morning in total silence or having lots of 220V without needing to fire up the generator. But maybe better not to use Li-Pos?

Seems to me like a very minor benefit for the major disbenefit of lugging the weight of extra batteries and electric motors around when motoring under diesel power as you will be doing most of the time. Apart from that any fuel savings will be tiny and go nowhere near paying for the cost of fitting the hybrid system. If you want to show you are green, buy a sailing boat

I believe Greenline offers an LiFePO4 option, which would be quite a lot safer than Lithium polymer batteries.
 
Oh dear, I wonder if there are insurance implications now for Greenline hybrids and anyone parked near it
 
Likewise, I hope the firemen are making a speedy recovery.

I've no idea what the failure mode is of batteries, but if they can go like that then they need a pretty strong safety case.
 
Hi all. Just joined the ybw site so please don't shout if I am doing this wrong.
I own a secondhand Greenline Hybrid which I like, obviously.
It came with the Greenpad monitoring system but did not come with an iPad. Did not consider this a problem as I already own various iPads.
What I did not consider was the fact I do not appear to be able to find the app for it though. Does anyone have any guidance for me please?
