Greek Wreckers

[ QUOTE ]
Fortunately not all the world is like Greece either.

Try setting up a Hot Dog or burger stall in the UK and see what happens! see which hospital you wake up in when you cross the local patch. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

a bit unfair to tar the whole country and its nationals on the back of one story that we don't know all the facts of isn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]Not fair at all, if I would have done that on the back of a story for which I know nothing aside from what I read in this thread.
But - as I understood - the comment I replied to came from a Greek, who seemed to justify the reported behaviour, because according to him that's pretty normal in his Country, and English "do not understand the world" if they have different expectations.
Now, that has nothing to see with the story as such.
So, I rest my case. And btw I'm not English.

further to my previous post, which refered to patras port.the guy got his engined serviced in two days with spares on the bus from athena. at a reasonable rate.
Ii brought my yacht down from preveza to patras.I had asked for a permanent berth. no chance all full for the next two years.
spoke to the super. turn up on the visitors berth on the 29th of the month.pay two days as visitor.tell them engine needs overhaul.3 months booking and then 1 year rolling reservation. worked like a dream.please use local knowledge to overcome problems.
a rival 34(fox )managed to scrape into the marina with a blown engine.with two days before they were due to fly out.they had nursed the boat from the canal to patras. Ii had a rival 31 in the marina, so went to introduce myself . nosey b---.2 phone calls and a bit of negotiating in the local bar .engine ordered ,berth arranged
for three months. greece is not northern europe.I like living in 3rd world countries.not so many jobsworths.and not very often ,do you hear no. usually not possible! then you have to negotiate the not off.

Huh?

I said that I'm not English just to point out that nationalism was not the reason behind my comment.
And re.understanding the world, I can't see what you mean: KI said that, I was just quoting his post.

Re: Huh?

Sure they were Greek and not Albanian?
There are a lot of problems with Albanians in Greece.

"Fortunately not all the world is like Greece....", a bit unfair to tar the whole country and its nationals on the back of one story that we don't know all the facts of isn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]Except, of course Albanians, even when there was no suggestion of Albanian involvement. Did I miss the irony smiley?
