Decided to try and get a stamp into my Dekpa.
Dekpa is bought in 2002, the last stamp dated from 2005. From then on I did not need a Dekpa because the boat is less than 10 m.
I gave the officer my old Dekpa, he saw the last stamp date.

Great consternation, big trouble. Seconds later I was told also that the fine was 5000 €.
If I had not known about this 5000 € fine joke, I would have had an instantaneous hart attack.

It took a lot of talking, my wife who is a skilled diplomat pulling my sleeve all the time.
Now he claimed he could not stamp my old Dekpa. I had to fill in a form declaring I had lost my Dekpa and get a new one.

I asked where to get a new one, ….No answer from both of the officers.
I explained that I knew that getting a new Dekpa was ..sort of difficult because they ware out of stock. Again no reply.

It was also unknown to both officers that yachts shorter than 10 m did not need a Dekpa until some time ago.
Officer kept asking why I had no stamps for the period between 2005 and now.

Explained that the yacht was out of the country most of the time AND a Dekpa was not needed.
He then wanted to see a declaration from a yard that the yacht was out of the water.

Explained again that out of the country meant OUT that is in Italy or Turkey.
Ohh, but still I could be fined 5000 € for not having a stamp.
In the end I signed a paper with a bullock declaration to have lost the Dekpa. He gave the paper 2 ( Yes two ) different stamps. I kept my old Dekpa, just to be sure.

So what now ?

Does anybody know where they sell Dekpa´s ? Not Poros, that is clear. Not Porto Cheli ( I know ) not kranidi, Ermioni, Kilada......
I dont mind paying for a new Dekpa. Peace of mind is worth a lot more than 30€.

BtW he wanted the insurance paper too, had no time to take a look at it so I escaped the other 5000 € fine. ( mine is not in Greek )
Both officers spoke good Englisch when they wanted to express themselfs.

BTW, Is recording a conversation like ours punishable? 5000 € probebly ?

Poros Saronic.

Did a bit of research, also Dutch, German and French sites.
Googling last year mentions of “Dekpa”, the only hits are for “ No Dekpa available”
Also lots of controversy story´s. ( Noonsite, German Yacht magazine, Hisse et oh )

Poros is very welcoming to yachts. The whole town earns his living on yachts. No hassle, all very friendly.
Guess that in some sort of way the PP made clear to me to leave them in peace.
Monemvasia is out of dekpa´s also.
How about Aegina ?

Just a thought, since the Greeks cant provide dekpa´s.

Why does de CA not print Dekpas ?
Nothing special about it, and the CA could than sell them to anyone at a lower price than 30 € witch seems a lot of money for a piece of ordinary paper.

Or would that be a 5000 € fine offence?

Just received my insurance policy and the bill.
The Dutch branch of Delta Lloyd insurances also sent me the liability form in English and Italian.

I had specificaly asked for the form in Greek language, they refuse, say there is no need for it.

So I answered that if I receive a fine ( According to Poros it is 5000 € ) I will transfer the liability to Delta Lloyd. Not that I see good there, I am not a lawyer.

Maybe someone of the forum who has a Greek language liability form could mail it to me so I could do some work with it. I just need to know what it looks like and the spelling .

Anyone helpful ?

Thanks all of you, @Norna Byron PM sent.

Seems there is no standard form, I will make my own.
I am correctly insured, who actually types the form is not important. .

I remember, in Turkey, “ Officials “ would take any paper, even if it was the story of Tom Tumb.
They could not read English so anything was ok to put on the pile of “Been important “ papers.

Another tale of officialism.

Back in the days that Rhodes old harbour Mandraki still had the floating pontoon for visitors I went to see the “Official”.
I was smart enough to tell him I came strait from Italy, thereby avoiding the fine for entering from Turkey. He knew I was telling bo*** so he went trough my papers with a flea comb.
He wanted to see my insurance, I gave him the policy and the proof of payment.
Not good enough, he wanted the certificate of liability.

I did not have one, It was pre electronic mail ( for me ) so It took several days and a lot of expensive phone calls to get the form.
Finally I had the form faxed directly to him at exactly 10.00 h
I sat at his desk when the fax arrived, he cast a glimpse on it and said “ OK “.

Been a bit annoyed about this “papernapping “ and been held hostage in Mandraki I asked him what he did with the other yachts on the floating pontoon. I had made an inquiry, some of them had no insurance at all.

This is what he answered : I can not ask for the liability form if they have no insurance can I ?
I have to admit he was logical.

Things have changed, now insurance is obligation.
