Oh my!
On the 5th of October I shall be flying out to Aegina to see my beloved Revolution, for the first time in four years!!!

It's taken this long to get ourselves back on our feet in the UK, building a business and a home that can support us.
I'm very excited!!

What I'd like to know is, have there been any changes to Greek regulations in that time? Did the cruising tax come into effect? I think the last time I was there they'd done away with the in/out thing but.....

Any infos would be gratefully received....

Cheers,

Crispin x

Many changes, but no cruising tax, as yet.

First one you need to know about is a new type of DEKPA which you will need before launching (on pain of possible hefty penalties if caught without). Several threads on Liveaboard about this. Along the way, you'll need to present passport for all owners, insurance including Greek translation showing it meets their minimums, sailing qualification (such as ICC), plus registration etc.

Charges for harbours have changed. In some places collected by local authority, in some by an entity who have been granted the rights by the LA, and in some, still by the Port Police. In many places charges are higher than the rates you will be familiar with. There's also a trend to charging fees for both arrival and departure date, so a one-night stay is charged as two days. (This was always strictly the case, but usually not implemented.)

Well worth checking out the Cruising Association site for Greece: much of the info is open to non-members. It's as close to definitive as anything about Greece (which is generally no less ramshackle than you'll remember it).

+1. But still as gorgeous as ever. :)

Is there somewhere with all the latest requirements up in writing (in English)?

I arrived from Scilly recently and all I did was pull into the marina who have only taken a copy my SSR and insurance. Not even ID. Are regulations and things I'm breaking? Got no experience in Greece, in Italy, Spain, and Malta it was just a case of turn up and do as you please.

You going to need to go to the PP there office is by the quay 5 mins from the Marina ,
you going to need to buy a DEKPA.
take insurance , ICC , SSR , passport, they will put you right from there ,
I could go through it all , but they will put you right .

Thanks. Odd that the marina never mentioned it.

I checked Noonsite but I don't know how accurate it is. It talks about paying entry and exit fees and all sorts.

I don't have an ICC, so that could be a sticking point.

Not sure about Lefkas but there is a document you should be able to sign basically to say that UK skipper are not required to have a license to sail a boat under 15 mts , now the problem is some PP know about this but others don't ,
So you may have to push the point .

Hi

We did our Depka at Gouvia in July

We were not asked for any qualifications and they even supplied us with a crew list.
Easy to do there too as fees are paid in the marina office

Regards

Jim
