Good afternoon,
I am looking for some help when picking an area to bareboat in Greece.
One area that has more marinas/moorings over another? One area that has mainly anchorages?
Experiences? Would love to hear. We plan to sail Sept 2023. Thank you!

In general west coast (Ionian) is more gentle sailing and lots of harbours anchorages etc. Not busy that time of year - I used to go in September running into early October when I had my boat in Corfu, as well as May early June. East coast and mainland much more variable and often longer passages between islands and probably more wind to make sailing more interesting

If you want an easy sailing holiday, stay in the Ionian, where the winds are low and the seas are mainly calm. sometimes you get a katabatic wind and all hell breaks loose but it doesn't last more than an hour.
If you go to the Aegean, you may have to endure the Etesians winds (Meltemi) which start at about mid day and stop at about 7 pm; sometimes they go through the night. Even on the lee side of the islands can be windy as the wind takes the form of a katabatic wind. Normally the wind blows force 5 but it can go up to 7. The Aegean has many islands and mainland anchorages and provides exciting sailing. Welcome to this forum.

Pick a Charter Co' in Gouvia Marina, Corfu, then if it's a week charter, then.......Saiada for the Prawns, Plateria (maybe) or Mourtos (Great Sunsets), Lakka overnight on the anchor, then go round Paxos and then Gaios (Brilliant place) then back up the hill to Corfu. Many other alternatives to this route though.
If it's a fortnight charter then head down to Levkas, and try Nidri, Sivota and Vassiliki. (again, many other options on this theme) before heading back to Corfu

I'd go along with that - flights to Corfu are more plentiful (esp from Ireland) and may be cheaper. Lakka is wonderful but Paxos is a bit of a lottery with crossed anchor chains when it's busy!
