We have just sailed down the East Coast passed the wind farm at Great Yarmouth and through the channel to Lowestoft. A friend has also done the same trip and had the same problem.
Is it just us or do the buoys between the wind farm and Lowestoft bear no relation to any chart and the Times crossword seems to make more sense? To make matters worse the channel was full of fishing pots!
In the last day three boats have been towed in with ropes around their props and have had to be hauled out because of damage.

I came down that way in Feb on way from Newcastle to Ipswich and dont recall a problem with the buoyage. Having said that I didn't take over the watch until Lowestoft so didnt see the bit north of GY.

Fishing pots are always a problem but I was in a 20m mobo so whilst we try and avoid them it wouldnt be the end of the world if we didnt!

Apparently the buoyage has changed quiet recently and the boats that have been hauled in are not small boats. One look as though it caused damage to the gearbox requiring several weeks work.
Our next stop will be Ipswich.

Bouyage was OK last year. Many pots off Felixstowe beach area, especially around cutler bouy and associated sand banks. Have a good trip.
