Great weather....

Leaving Felixstowe in a few hours to spend a week doing Day skipper in cornwall - let's hope the weather improves....!

Forecast for Monday is F6-8 but Tues onwards is 4 or less. Just take warm clothing and good waterproofs!

Well found sailing school boat and if the Skipper knows his stuff plus fully crewed you should get a lot out of some 'heavy weather' experience on monday.

Have fun!!

Despite 400 miles of torrential rain driving to Falmouth we have had a fantastic week sailing!!!
Our instructor - Alan - www.allaboutsailing.co.uk was extemely knowledgeable and a very capable sailor - the wind blew F5-6 on Monday which made for some great sailing, then Tuesday it settled down which meant MOB / etc could be practised, Wednesday was warm and Thur/Fri still plenty of wind to sail. Falmouth is out of this world for sailing with the estuary and rivers to go up, spent the evenings at a quiet anchorage - nothing better - great company, food, sailing and with the odd beer and wine thrown in!! Thinking of a return visit sooner rather than later-may charter a boat from Cornish Cruising for a week ....?!

Well we did a passage plan to get to Fowey on the Wednesday, with a view to staying overnight and sailing back on Thursday, unfortunately there was very little wind so after about an hour we had made such little progress we decided to abort and head up the Percuil instead which was a great shame and probably the only dissapointment of the week!! Asolutely loved the choice of sailing ground....our boat is on a swinging mooring at the mouth of the river Deben in Felixstowe and we are quite restricted by tides/etc, so it was great to have the variation .
Sorry to hear that your weather isnt that great - its not much better here, made worse by the fact that due to work and family commitments I cannot see a way of getting down to our boat for nearly two weeks now!!

You did well to enjoy yourselves in such a difficult week. Fowey is one of our favourite places too, and I spent my childhood holidays in nearby Meva. A fine evening on a mooring there, with the setting sun lighting up Polruan and perhaps a fleet of Troys racing is quite magical, and almost as good as the Pyefleet. This morning was very pleasant here and we got a number of jobs done at last.
