Probably not the place but wouldnt know where else to express an appreciation. Well worth finding on i player is todays R4 2.15 afternoon drama The nauti lady herself presenting her son's writing. (lots of boat) Snippet heard on the car radio earlier & the whole was even better. Lots familiar, quite an insight - I hope someone else enjoys as much.

Thanks for that. I have read One Summers Grace a couple of times and will again,so sad but I can see why oldvarnish is off on his travels in a way. Poor fckers,Jerry.

Terrific lady, marvelous journalist, intelligent attitude to life-one of my idols.

If you haven't read Nicholas Heiney's book 'The Silence at the Song's End' it really is worth buying. It's one that I keep onboard and return to read at irregular intervals.

A while ago Dylan Winter , I think, asked about literary quotes and my favourite then, as now, is this from the aforementioned book-

..and so it is that time of year again
To go to sea,for better or for worse
Where silver sails break sun in golden shards
And I can work at being pure again

definitely sums up my emotions as we come to the end of a long damp winter aboard on the South coast of England!
