Hello, occasional lurker here...
Just completing our first season as new Thames boaters. Had a great season. Actually (apart from a few rowers) found everyone on the river to be friendly and happy to help.
Found great pubs, great views and felt lucky to be away from the real world, time pressures, noise and traffic. Been a big learning curve but have loved it - as have our kids - who now can work the lines at the locks and drive the boat.
Had a great run this summer up to Marlow and Harleyford Marina (what nice guys up there, Belleview cafe was fab too). Hat tip to to Richard @ MDL Bray who made us feel really welcome too.
Enjoyed our home stretch - Chertsey, Shepperton, Walton, Sunbury. Loads to look at - and lots of pubs to stop at!
Feel lucky to have been a part of it this summer.
Cheers
Matt
