Clacton Air Show Thursday 26th August & Friday 27th August 2010

If you havnt been before they mark out an anchorage for yachts offshore, and you get a fantastic view of the display. (Highly recommended if its calm - otherwise it can be very uncomfortable & not recommended).

Is there any information regarding prohibited areas etc.,?

Can't find anythin on 'official website'

I might have a trundle down if the wind is blowing in the right direction. :D
I'd guess it might be a bit lumpy with Northerlies or Easterlies.

I dont think so. They lay buoys ofshore. You must anchor to seaward of them .. If you stray inside or try transiting inside of them during the display a big black rib containing policeman will zoom out and point out the error of your ways

Did it a couple of years back.

Fantastic view of the planes, but as has already been mentioned, stay within the marked off area unless you want a visit from the M.I.B!!

We are probably going to be over there on the Friday...subject to wind direction/strength. I can think of better places to sit than anchored off Clacton in a stiff North Easterly on an ebb tide!

If the weather holds up we shall be there, trying to persuade crew - 3 daughters and wife that plane watching is good fun. Having aborted this weeks sailing due to the lows blasting through I will do anything to get out. Having had a lightening strike I m keen to be well away from any potential fall out zone! One presumes the boats lying off shore will be well out of any emergency abort area!

We've done it a couple of years and it's tremendous fun. The planes are directly overhead, and things like Tornados are awesome! There's local radio coverage of the event, which is useful background information.

Great, all planned. Over night at Bradwell, late start after breakfast and there for the start.....NOT

Bloody client decides that work outstanding for two weeks must now be done on Friday at 1000 hours.

If sailing wasn't so expensive I would have thrown my toys out of the pram!!

Have fun, those of you who manage it and I look forward to a report on here when it is all done.
