Great boating gadgets

Can some please invent a compass look-alike that is not magnetic? Ideally solar or motion powered and looks exactly like my magnetic compass. And no, not a screen I want the usual physical floating ball thing.

Sorry for the drift... lets say its another gadget suggestion.

I know many will laugh at this ... I bought it after being in the pub ...

But in fact it works !

Cannot remember its name - but its a plastic affair you screw to the other end of a boathook. Mine has a short line attached to it that you can make fast to a mooring line ... you load the cross bar across the mouth and then when you want to put a line through a cleat or ring .. you press the bar on the cleat / ring and the line is put through and you have it brought back to you.
As long as you remember its plastic and don't get silly with it - it works ! Cost me about 10 quid !!

Here's a similar one ... mine's a heavier gauge french jobbie ...

Must have bought one of these some 30 years ago. Made of plastic and named The Happy Hooker ! Caused much amusement and a little embarrassment when I asked if they kept them in stick at the local chandlers

For me its the good woman, she keeps me supplied with coffee, meals, and she is good company.

Micro cameras, these had their micro SD cards replaced with a bluetooth adapter and they show up directly onto the laptop for an all round view and infra red night vision without the LED's showing.

My 5.5mm borescope as these are so handy, mine has both the 5M and 10M wands and they are great for so many things, I look inside everything from the engines to fuel tanks and particularly cavities you cannot normally see into for pipe leaks to wiring runs, they are also great if you drop something and cannot find it, and they both came with waterproof heads on the wands and while the 5M is only waterproof to 1M depth for 5 minutes, the 10M semi rigid head is waterproof to 5M for 90 minutes.

Keep em coming everyone.

Just Bought one of those led torches based on this thread.

already have a USB boroscope as per assassins post above, a useful gadget, connect it to my phone to find lost bolts and get a view into inaccessible places.
