Hi,

I earlier had a DPS drive and had to grease the gimbal bearing every year prior to launch but I cannot see any grease zerks on the DPG drive which I have on my current boat. Any chance some one can help me with photo(s) where to grease in order to keep the drive in good shape and secure no leaks to the inside of the boat. I do grease the propeller axle every year as well as change the gear oil but I believe there must be some zerks on the drive to grease in/ out on the drive housing even I cannot see them. Thanks a lot for the help in advance.

Thanks for the link to the manual. As far as I can see there is no zerks to be serviced on the DPE/G drives. Maybe some grease to the end of the shift cable (on the drive) and between the steering ram and the drive itself (inside the boat) as these connections are moving during operation.

The only grease nipple on a DPG drive is inside the transom shield at the back of the steering arm. It lubricates where the steering fork shaft passes through the transom shield. They are often missed when servicing outdrives as they are in the engine compartment. It's better to make it an annual engine service item.

Aquatom. Your feedback much appreciated... have looked at many photos.... cannot find that nipple... maybe have to wait till I get to my boat but if you have a photos/ illustration with that nipple that will be great. Thanks again.

Mine was a real so and so to get too, hidden under steering arm.You needed to put helm hard over to gain access.
Changed the nipple to a 90 degree version, much easier to attach and remove the grease gun.
Unless steering fork shaft was completely packed with grease it constantly weeped.
A new set of those top hat bushes made precious little difference.:)
Volvo did change the design of the top hats on my leg, vital to be in possession on the correct items when you have the leg in bits all round you and the supplier is closed until blimming Monday.
