Hi, can any one give me a recommendation as to which grease would be best to use on my rudders stocks. The boat is steel and the rudder stocks are stainless. She has been out of the water since summer 2004 whilst we have gutted her but now she is starting to look more like a boat again. So the rudders are now very tight/stiff and I intend first of all to pump them full of nice fresh grease but do not know which one to use. Obviously I can use any old grease but I would rather get the right stuff to start with. I guess I could use the stuff used on the prop shafts, but don't know what to use for them either ?

Suggest clearing out the old grease first as it might have caked up.

Any extreme pressure dedicated marine grease from a reputable manufacturer.

Why so technical? Why not use an ordinary water resistant axle grease?

For slow moving rudder shafts that can experience high pressure loadings extreme pressure marine grease is less likely to wash out and more likely to stick around longer.
That's just my opinion of course.
