Graphics on my Sat Domes

Personally I'm quite happy with the manufaturer's logo on the domes, so would replace the stickers, but if you prefer not to, then why not try compounding them, and see how noticeable the witness of the logo is after that. If it's barely noticeable, i'd polish and wax them and allow the remaining witness marks to fade in the sun.

If the compounding works, and you like the bootline idea, you could buy go faster stripes from a car accessories supplier, which will look just as good as painting them (applied before the wax of course)

That makes sense and will probably be the way to go
I don't think I would put the Raymarine logos back though.
I can't see a paint job working.
These things are very flexible - when you carry them they can distort several inches - I'm not sure a paint wouldn't flake off over time.

Maybe just dustbin liners over them - thats a joke aimed at a lurker who reads all this stuff on these forums!!!

Actually, I would expect a properly primed job, with awlgrip sprayed, to last a lot.
Maybe with just a bit of care while carrying them back and installing, after the paint job...
But I can't imagine awlgrip flaking off just for the minor flexing the dome might afford due to the wind, once secured in their place.
Otoh, I agree with Nick that decals might be better for the boot stripe.
On one hand, they would make the painting easier and faster, and otoh you could replace them with little effort if/when faded or peeling off...

Just reviving this thread
Actually, I had a good result.

After attempting to clean the domes it was apparent that it would need more than that.
So, I emailed Intellian who make the domes for Raymarine.

They sympathised with me and offered to supply new dome covers FOC - all I had to pay was the carriage.
Great result
As most of you know, I am a great believer in the Intellian electronics.
IMHO, they are way better than the more common KVH systems.
At the time, when I bought them, my main concern was that they had an auto skew feature which their competitors didn't.
It didn't occur to me that their electronics was and still is superior.

Anyway, JW now has nice clean domes - without the Raymarine lettering but now with a more appropriate logo!!!

Great result, H. The Navisystem domes on my boat are looking a bit tired so I might be shamed into changing mine!

Now thats some great customer service!
well done Intellian, and some free advertising for them so a win win all round.

I was in Vilamoura last week and a big pet hate of mine was seeing a very nice Azimut with a cream hull fitted with gloss white domes. It Just looked all wrong.
That and having the decals not facing the same direction, that could be my OCD kicking in thou :-)

Wow, result! Chapeaux to them.
Unfair as it might seem towards a company with such great customer service, I would consider removing the "Intellian" label now that they are new - or is that painted?
You know, this way you would get rid in advance of the potential problem you might have to deal with in the future, as you did with the Raymarine label...! :)

Awwww!

I missed this thread the first time around.

Still, could you make the top of the dome look like eyeballs so for anyone flying a quadcopter over you it will look like you have big eyes looking up at them! :)

The skipper that we met on the next boat in Cala d'Or last month called them "ears"

BTW - (Dont ask!! - some people know the background of this)
