Phew, Laying Down Supper now complete, we can look forward to the Closed Season event just to keep us all in touch.

This year, we had a really excellent do at the Greyhound Aldbury, and watched a spectacular Lunar Eclipse.

Next year I propose that we have another small country pub/hotel in say, Norfolk and theme it up into a Burns Night.

Meet up around midday and check in, then have a healthy event in the afternoon, like Bressingham Museum or some other wizard wheeze, back to rooms to Posh Up, then a monumental bunfight.
Sunday morning easy brekkie, go for a walk or similar to recover and away home again.

All this is completely open to suggestion, even a date change, nothing but nothing is set in stone..........except it is Black Tie and Ball Gown.

Alas FC i dont own a ball gown and SWMBO hates wearing a tie perhaps its time to get seperate clothes storage areas.

Concept sounds good.

BTW the guy with the nice Najad berths two down from me at fambridge, never knew he was a reader of the forum, will have a chat with him next time i see him.

As discussed on Saturday evening /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The 26th January , being the weekend of MrsT25's birthday , I have taken the liberty of making preliminary enquiries into booking a venue for a combined birthday and forum black tie evening , so if there are no objections to the date and to my pathetic attempt at equalling the organisational skills of Full Circle , I would like to propose a venue that would be relatively easy to get to from all directions /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The port town of Kings Lynn has had a great deal of improvement work carried out with EU funding so I feel we would be neglecting our duties should we fail to avail ourselves of these improvements /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif so can we have a show of hands for those in favour and possibly willing and able to attend , and I shall endeavour to make further enquiries and arrangements as appropriate

Venue currently being approached is the Ffolkes Arms Hotel as they have accomodation and possibly a seperate room available if enough hands go up to make it worthwhile /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and this would also make it possible to incorporate some entertainment , again , if enough are interested /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
All subject to the opinions of those wishing to attend of course /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

T25 & MrsT25 - Yes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Parents of Mrs T25 - Yes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Sister of MrsT25 - Yes /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Thats about 90 miles for us, so we could make it (although we would have to stay overnight somewhere) even if I hate dressing up. SWMBO has given me a stern talking to about a girls need to get dressed up posh from time to time...

Nope , this was at the last event

sounds like a great idea, I totally agree with Mrs muckypup that it's a good excuse for dressing up. I borrowed a dress from louise last year but Bernie seems to have a huge collection of dresses so I may scrounge one off her next year!

Only if you have a bad back and therefore a reason why you are unable to bend over and slurp them off the plate /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

So far we have Mrs Full Circle and MuckyPup showing hands as likely to attend /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif and with this in mind I'm thinking I may need to check out the venue personally /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

As it's about an hour and a half each way for me , has anyone got any other suggestions ? , Jim ? , or can we have a show of hands so I know what size venue to aim for /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim

Don't think Bresingham Steam Museum & Gardens are open in January, just the Garden Centre. I will try and find ut for sure - it is the next village to me!

There is Banham Zoo if you want something different to do but I am struggling to think of a pub / hotel big enough to accommodate 10 or so couples that does good food etc! Several good pubs for food but not the accommodation and in case anyone asks 'Chez Flipper' is far too small. We do have a 2 berth caravan in the garden!

Park Hotel in Diss (next to the Mere) would be suitable as a venue (Double £65 per night) but not eaten there since it changed hands last summer. Walking distance from the Park Hotel is Weavers - good food - menu about £25 per head on Sat night. Know the owners as No 2 son works there from time to time and they might do a deal!

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Peter

I see talk of a walking session in January on another thread but wondered what progress on the Posh Frock do?
Though it looks like I shall be a lone Penguin again this time /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I can say that the Germans have organised meetings in the Fatherland for 31/01 and 01/02 so i shall be unavailable at that time.

Dougie, I may encourage the Dinner to follow this fine sounding event during the day. If we go to Maldon, then I am going to suggest the Benbridge Hotel, as the fare is more than passable, and the accomodation good, also reasonable.
If we combine that to make it the evening of the 26th January, we can have a Burns Night Supper to add a little more spice.
