Has anyone got experience of using GPS Utility. I downloaded the latest version (4.88) to evaluate. I can make it see the GPS, and the Interface monitor shows a constant stream of data between my laptop and the GPS (I am experimenting with a Magellan 320 HH). However, I can neither upload nor download waypoints. Am I doing something dumb? (The answer is almost certainly "yes" - but what!?)

I've played around with something similar in the past. Some of these bits of software will only work with Garmin protocol NMEA data streams, some will require a bidirectional Garmin protocol which may be unsupported by your GPS

Yes, I've come across something similar. However, the laptop tells me that it is "seeing" the GPS - and displays "NMEA Connected" at the bottom of the screen. It may just be finger trouble on my part..!

I've used it with a garmin gps and had no problem uploading / downloading except that the free version has a limit on numbers - I think 50 waypoints.

Bit puzzled because if the gpsu sees the gps enough to download position data, I can see what stops it downloading waypoints
