Thank you to all on the forum for your help with my Raymarine/Icom GPS issue. After a long process of elimination Noelex found the winning formula. The solution is green TX+ to NMEA and in and Grey to NMEA out. The grey wire does not even have a sheath on it and is just bare. Neither the manual for the plotter or GPS mention the use of this wire and neither did raymarine ev en though I gave them a copy the GPS antenna manual. Forums such as this and WSF are invaluable for solving these sort of problems and suceeded where Raymarine could not.

I have added a picture just to prove it!

Thanks for letting us know. Glad its working, sometimes it needs a little, or a lot, of trial and error.

Great that it's sorted. But why, in this day and age, aren't these things just plug and play?

They are. If he'd bought the Raymarine GPS antenna it would have just worked. The problem here was trying to fit a current day, 3rd party antenna to a "new" old stock Raymarine plotter. Raymarine are notorious for having issues integrating into systems with other manufacturers products. Although, in fairness to them, their latest plotters seem to integrate much better.

Hi guys. This forum is very useful indeed. I have been reading and searching and reading for a long time (6months). Now, I hope you can help. I had, resolved, now have back the same issue as Garfish. I have an Evermore SA320 with what seems to be the same wiring as Garfish's. I too have an old Raymarine L755RC I am trying to keep afloat, again with the same NMEA wiring as Garfish's. After many searches and trial and error, independent from this site initially, I wired up the SA320 (replacing Raystar 120) via NMEA and found the Green to Ray orange and shield wire (signal ground) to Ray Yellow worked perfectly. Almost immediate fix and I was away! :)
Well, Sunday I took the boat out and "no Fix" showing! I was shattered to say the least. Last night I checked all wiring and played around with it. Power to the SA320, pulsing signal in the NMEA wires, but no FIX. Also tried Raymarine NMEA input channel 2 to no avail.
The only thing I can think of is that the L755RC has packed it in in terms of GPS capability. Do you have any thoughts? Garfish, is your system still going fine in that configuration?
Thanks in advance.
