Bilge Keelers get up further ! I only came - cos they said there was FREE Guinness !

I\'ve tried twice ...

and have given up on both occasions as the number of times you have to put in a password just frustrates. It just isn't intuitive to use.

This YBW.COM forum is a model of simplicity - Yahoo have a lot to learn.

I'm interested in GPS but I'm afraid I won't try again.

Tried to get in, gave it up as a bad job in the end!
shame, would have probably found it very interesting,

I had some trouble at first but ok now.
The big problem was finding an unused 'Yahoo user name'. Once I had tried half a dozen times I found one I could remember. Since then it has been easy to find my way in but I havn't tried to post there yet.

It's not Yahoo related. Nothing there to make your computer crash, it's one of the biggest and most used groups of websites there is, so any problems get reported by thousands of people.

Could be a problem with you opening another browser window, or your computer set up. Do you get any error messages?

Rich, when I loaded onto Yahoo I did not accept the offer to change my browser to Yahoo. Thought that may introduce problems. Could that be the problem?

Iain

No, won't cause any problems. That just gives you the opportunity to make it your home page. You can do that for any website.

It seems there are a lot of myths about internet usage and what can and cannot cause problems

Seems to me we should start a thread on the topic, and do away with some of these myths. The only thing that would worry me, is that loads of people would wade in with helpful but misconcieved advice that promulgated many of the myths.
What do you think? Probably best on the website forum, but then most people would miss it.

OK,will need a lot more information than that to diagnose problem. Possible that installling web cam has caused problems with your system.

email address on yahoo is not a problem. They allow you to have a Yahoo email address, which you can use to register. You don't need to use your normal email address on your profile.

Many people use yahoo, freeserve ,hotmail etc addresses to register for sites when uncertain if they will receive spam. Register for a few free ones to sign up to sites you are uncertain of, and keep your main email address for legitimate friends etc. I don't follow this advice, and receive very little spam compared to most. It's all about common sense

I must admit that I have tryed several times but I keep getting bumped of to a magazine .com.
I am a user of other yahoo groups & I do admit tha getting redgistered can be a pain but then things usually go ok.t

I manged to sign up without any problems, although waiting for the confirmation emails was a little tedious.
And using a spare email id for sites like this is always a good idea.

confused ...... why you get bumped of to another site .....

try via the boating section of groups ....

Some have difficulty with the..

registration process ...... I can't do anything about that sorry.

But I really ask that you try again and take it slowly ... I know that one guy on the PBOMeet forum had real trouble getting registered / entry - but kept at it and got in when he found it was a simple error in the intial dialogue etc.

Its worth it - believe me !!

Cookies ....

Most sites use cookies not only for some things that people are against - but also give possibility to log in easier etc.

I only put my passowrd in when I need to change something significant on the site .... or if I clean out my cookie directory. The site is good and operates in a way to try and keep itself clean. Remove the requirements and it will just become a free-for all junk bin.

YBW forums are good, they have a very definite place, but are unable to rpvide ALL the facilities. THe GPS Nav group can provide the other bits etc. that Kim cannot ......

Try again ..... you will be surprised what is there and what is being discussed etc.

IT IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR YBW - never intended to be .... it is adding to the fun....
