GPS jamming

It's just a plot with North Korea's latest Kimlet joining up with Chinese electronic firms so that we all have to fork out loads of cash to buy eLoran.

Seriously, though, this could easily be construed by the South Koreans as an act of war, which it is.

Or, presumably, passing a drying rock in fog within 500m of a scally using a commercial vehicle for private use, or taking a short cut in the Thames Estuary within 500m of a scally using a commercial vehicle for private use, or passing your position to the Coastguard when in distress within 500m of a scally using a commercial vehicle for private use and so on within 500m of a scally using a commercial vehicle for private use.

edited for accuracy. :-)

These jammers are used by mini cab and hgv drivers.

that will end with the next gen of tacho, must have 2 methods of speed input to counter the magnets placed on the gearbox. so gps will be used as well......

how well will that work driving in a tunnel. get a tacho infringement every time @dartford

Buck Turgidson,

thanks; a different sort of jammer, I was thinking of blocking signals to the receiver on the vehicle, this sounds more like jamming a transmitter, unless the function is to avoid unauthorised trips being logged.

The trips are logged by gps tracking so it is the receiver that is being jammed. That's the whole point of this use of jammer. So drivers of commercial vehicles can cheat the log and drive over hours or use the vehicle for other uses. As db states above the traditional tachos were defeated by magnets and now gps trackers are being defeated by jamming. Think I might work on a miniature IRS tacho with gyros immune to interference. Could be some money in it.

They jam anything within around a mile radius. Defensive measure against GPS guided incoming wotsits presumably.

It can't be much of a missile that can't DR its last mile in :)

Back in Ye olde DECCA days, I was exiting Portland Harbour and passed a big grey job on a buoy.
He wiped out all my DECCA waypoints

Inertial platforms seem a bit much to keep tabs on drivers, maybe I'm naive but I'd have just said ' explain this blank on the log and odd mileage '...

cheap as chips these days. Use in rc model aircraft off the shelf.

If you don't have to pay for certification the tech is available.

i trust jammerall, i bought the GPS jammer knock off that llike $230 bucks i got it a week after i paid for it. the phones great, no cheap feeling, packaging was good when it arrived, and the quality is next to perfect. id say buy the jammer. and shipping is free
