This is a long shot - but here goes. I have a Nokia 5140i phone - the ruggedised one that's drop proof, splash proof etc. Nokia used to do a "shell" that fits over it and has GPS functionality. Very basic by the looks of it but enough to get lat & long, speed direction etc. I'm thinking about getting one off ebay just to use as a backup as they are half the price of the cheapest handhelds. Has anyone ever come across one of th /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifese and are they worth the £40-£50- its going to cost me?

Out of interest, can the GPS be interrogated remotely..

Good reason never to own this telephone, my suspicious opinion only.

A gadget driven friend had one, it worked quite well and was as useful as my hand held etrex for the speed and position, sorry cant remember if it did other things, the whole set up looked fairly robust and moderately water proof

That sounds promising - thats all I want it for is a an occasional "get me home" backup rather carrying phone and separate gps. Think I'll persevere with looking on ebay. Thanks
Jay
