GPS/DSC wiring question

I'm getting a DSC radio and want to connect it to a tom-tom GPS mouse. (The tom-tom wasn't a choice, just happen to have one lying around)
I'm told the mouse is NMEA compliant and has the following pin outs.

+5V
RX
TX
GND

The DSC radio has the following connections
NMEA input (+)
NMEA Input (-)
NMEA Output (+)
NMEA Output (-) - Not used

My assumption would be that the Mouse TX connects to the NMEA Input (+), the Mouse GND connects to the NMEA Input (-)
5v PSU connects to mouse +5V & GND

Please could someone confirm this is right?

I presume your radio is a 12v device so you won't want to be mixing 12v and 5v supplies. Power the "mouse" and radio separately and only make the NMEA connection from mouse Tx to radio NMEA Input + to start with, relying on the boat's electrical system to provide the ground reference. Make the second connection from Mouse GND to radio NMEA Input - if necessary.

These connections are usually pretty robust.

Remember the old motto: red to red and black to black, throw the switch and stand well back! Works for me.

Is the GPS Mouse an RS232 output or a USB output as a USB conection cannot be used into the DSC Radio as although the output is NMEA compliant the hardware is not compatible.

the 5v gnd line and 12v gnd line will be the same on the DC boats system. My 6v gps psu and dsc nmea are both on the same gnd.

If it was USB, it would be documented D+ & D-, rather than TX and RX.
