Hi,

Ok here the prob' the GPS (gamin GPSMAP292) does EITHER 4800 or 38400...the DSC (nasa sx35) only does 4800 and the AIS (nasa black box cheapie) only does 38400...

...be honest I'm stuffed arent I?

I cant be the only person to have hit this problem, is there an easy solution eg inline baudrate converter thingy...I really dont want to have to wire in an NMEA multiplexer.

cheers all

Sorry to say that I have no solution to your problem, but I hope you find one. Good evidence though of why NMEA 2000 is the way to go.

Instead of a multiplexer why dont you add another GPS to supply the DSC.
Its cheaper than a multiplexer and gives you redudancy with 2 fixed GPS
