From a fred on the Mobo side about anchoring overnight it seems many are frightened of drifting during the wee hours. Many set up a GPS alarm to give some comfort when they go below to sleep.
But, the GPS only tells you when you have started to drift, like a smoke alarm does nothing to fix the situation before it is possibly too late.
So I give my idea to all marine instrument manufacturers, in fact if you are an employee of nasa and take it up it would be nice for you to give me a unit gratis for my splendid new invention!
How about adding an alarm to your windex, say, if the wind goes over 15 knots or comes around to the SE it will wake the crew to warn them things are changing before the anchor gives way.
It would be very simple to do and the levels could be determined by the skipper, giving the opportunity to wake and move if the wind gets up.
Good idea?
It would make a difference to which brand I bought...
