GPS aerial

Thank you all for your replies. Probably would have been easier for all if I had managed to get a pic up earlier.
Steve

Cheers. I'll have a proper look today .
Been for a look today,
The GPS itself will be Seatalk, you cannot use that directly. If you have a ST50 Multi, that will have an NMEA out, as will the Autohelm, you can use either of those.

Been for another look today. The Buzzer is a leftover from the old NASA AIS. Sorry.
The GPS aerial has four wires and a screen, red, yellow, green and brown + the screen of which the yellow, red and screen are spliced into the seatalk cable of the GPS head.
The Transducer cable from the GPS head is not connected to anything. There is no sign of a transducer anywhere six inch by eight inch box.
The NASA AIS head gps came from a single core wire.
The multi is almost impossible to access, The auto helm is at the wheel and there is no way I can get anymore wires down the mounting tube. The GPS is at the Nav desk and easily accessible.
whats the best way to connect the radio to the GPS ? Can I splice direct to the GPS aerial? Or should I buy a new aerial, plenty available on ebay for a tenner or so?

The Raymarine GPS is Seatalk, it is an antenna and receiver combined, you can't use it for NMEA, but the multi and the Autohelm convert ST to NMEA and output it on the NMEA port. The NASA one is just an antenna, the receiver is in the display, can't use that either.

Given the above, a new GPS receiver would make sense. It needs to be NMEA 0183, not seen one of those on Ebay for a tenner, perhaps double check here before ordering ?
