I have a Garmin GPS12 which I rarely use. Fired it up on Saturday and it found the correct position but said it was 17th.(?) March 1994! Time was correct. Otherwise worked fine. Fired up again on Sunday, still working OK but same incorrect date. Manual states that date should automatically set itself. Anyone know of a fix for this glitch or why it is happening?
Thanks.

I think this may be a GPS week rollover issue.

17 March 1994 is GPS Week 0740 day 4. The GPS week rollover occured on 22 Aug 1999 (GPS week 1024). Today it is GPS week 1764. 1764-0740 = 1024.

My guess is that you GPS12 is counting the time from GPS start date (7 Jan 1980), not from the rollover date. This may be resolved by a firmware update available from:

That was my immediate reaction, as well. I'm sure that is the problem.
