Somebody, on some web forum or other, reported recently that Gouvia Marina charges had been increased by about 30% this year.

Not in MY case, they are in fact approx €60 cheaper than I was charged two years ago. Their published price list also does not show any increase.

maybe with the new tax it is (will be) 30% more expensive... (marina+tax)
but that goes for any marina in Greece...

They'd be crazy to jack up their prices with all the uncertainty about the new tax. The marina wasn't exactly at bursting point this past winter...

But then, the Greeks are known to jack up prices to make up for lost revenue when visitor numbers are down. Because that always works a treat!

Gouvia marina were still ignoring the tax when I checked with them last month. I haven't compared with last year, but didn't notice any dramatic price increase.

I think most marinas are very unsure what impact the tax will have on their business. The marina here at Agios Nikoloas on Crete has introduced an additional 7% discount for any over 12m boat taking a yearly contract to help offset the tax.

I have been told that a Turkish company have now taken a substantial share in the group and intend modernising the marinas. So make the most of this years prices as they are bound to rise very soon.

Turks took a significant, if not a controlling, shareholding about a year or more back. One thing that won't happen is significant price increases in the face of falling berth occupancy IMO.

On present rumour, it is the PP that will collect the tax, not marinas, so not surprising that no marinas are doing anything about it......

With Turks being in charge, things may be different, but this is pretty standard thinking for Greeks, at least on Corfu. Visitors go down = raise prices to make up for lost revenues. Obvious, innit?

Hmm, I think I may have turned into a scratched record.
