Got to admire this girl .......

OK, I know its got nothing at all to do with boating ion the Thames but Helen Skelton makes me feel totally inadequate !

Yes great achievement. But in comparison with her legendary predecessors, what back up she must have had just to satisfy the underwriters; plus a helecopter ready to pull them out if it all went wrong.
Just giving a bit of perspective and context you realise:)

Bet she can spell 'helicopter' too ! :D

Come on, give the girl a beak. Makes Walliam's Thames swim look like pretty small beer !

Incidentally, I see Walliams has so far raised almost £1.2 million with his swim.
The EA provided some patrol launch support and extra presence at locks to control spectators etc. I also understand they allowed media crews access to the lock areas in return for media coverage - only media coverage I saw about the river was negative - filthy water gave him delhi-belly etc. Miranda Hart making him stodgy porridge for breakfast at Cookham got more PR than the river itself.

Ok, and hands up to the spelling mistake, but why does she need a 'beak'?:D

I know you well, Tony, and cut you plenty of slack, even when sometimes I think you go too far, but 'Forum grammar nazi?

However I do think this comment, and the post it refers to, goes way beyond anything that might be referred to as acceptable humour (if that is what it is meant to be) for this forum.

:D:D:D

Awaiting retribution...:p:o

She also vomited her way down the Amazon in a kayak. Plucky to say the least.

Now what can we say about Bear Grylls:rolleyes:

He is the Chief Scout, and his predecessor (Peter Duncan) was an ex-Blue Peter presenter.

Helen Skelton is amazing! Tony should write to her to ask her to be President of TMBA.....

Bear Grylls, Peter Duncan, pah! - starting to think shes pretty amazing myself now.:)

I was considering asking Pippa Middleton .........

We don't actually want a President although a Patron might be good.

You need a network of Old boys, funny handshakes and brown envelope wielding henchmen.

Works for some other organisations :D
