Yesterday I had the boat lifted for a clean and maitaince work and my controls were a bit slack from netural -forward so it would need to be pushed quite far forward before it would donk into gear.

So I removed the covers on the legs and tighten up the connection between the cable and gear selector a little.

I still have the slack in the controls tho so is there another point within the controls that can be adjusted?

When putting her back in the water I opened her up and for ages I've had a lack of rpm and top speed (other posts). Now she hit 40mph and 3900 rpm as she should before I bottled it and eased off

So what have I done to do this just by playing with the gear linkage? And also how can I sort the slack controls still?

Thanks

Ian

I suspect with poorly adjusted morse cables you weren't actually getting wot (wide open throttle) before.

With slack cable as you describe, it's likely there wasn't sufficient movement in the control levers to give you full throttle.
Now you've tightened things up you are able to push the cables forward further, opening up the throttles more and giving you max rpm.

And with rpm comes speed

Think I've found my answer.

Ive never seamed to quite get the hang of my trim tabs... when ever i have used them i seamed to put the boat on its side and alway seamed back to front of what i was trying to achieve. Well when lifting her the port side one was jammed down. I think this may of been like this for a while and when I've tried to play around whith them i have just been operating the starboard one and when raising it causing it to tilt in a big way. As they always seamed to do the oppressed i may of had them both fully down trying to counteract the stuck one causing bow to be low and big drag issue.... I've then tried to counteract it on the legs causing just more power loss..... I think i may of solved my misery but does this all add up?

Definitely, and full down trim will not not only hurt top speed but give you overly twitchy steering as the bow is being held down.

That was your problem,Great boat one of my favourites
Many tears ago I pointed out to Mr Cranchi junior that they were setting up the trim tabs the wrong way round to which he replied it was the Cranchi way of installing them!
