Talking of singlehanding, I manged to get the criusing chute up on my own the other day and very nice it felt too!!!!
Used to love singlehanding but after this years trip to the Solent and back I think I will make more effort to find a crew for a bit of company. How these singlehanders cross oceans without going completely barking (Donald Crowhurst excepted) I do not know.

some nice pics (I think!!) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MrC had the spinnaker up earlier this year whilst singlehanding, and it's a whopper!

(Not a great photo as it's rather hard to get a pic of it, apparently)

He's also had the Cruising Chute up a number of times.

ive got a chute scoop for mine, its still a bit of a handfull for singlehanded sailing without an AP,i think ill either wait for an Ap or having someone at the helm before i try to launch it again.

Hi
We have a chute (just under 1200 sq feet, I think), which we practiced with in the Orwell and the Stour late last year and early this before using it in earnest in the Ijselmeer this summer.
No poles for us. When would we use one? (There is one fixed to the front of the mast or is that for the genny?)
We put the tack to a fixing right at the bow and the sheet through the genoa sheet blocks on the leeward side.
Seems to work OK. Is there something I am missing?
Not yet had a picture of it in action from someone else so here a couple from on board.
