The submarine crew are responsible for security on the boat and will have a sentry placed to control access.

MOD police provide security for the dockyard area and will have units available to patrol and respond to any incident. Both on shore and afloat.

What is the RA?

Oops, sorry. The Royal Arms in Gosport was home to all who served at HMS Dolphin when it was home to the 1st Submarine Squadron. The lads who lived a fairly basic life at sea were able to 'unwind' a little on return from patrol....

Great link.It certainly brought back a few hilarious memories from my seagoing days,and I was never in the RN.Much the same in cargo boats.
