Landers - we had a party of 12, food was disgracefully bad - undercooked, and mussles boiled to death. Thoroughly unpleasant when we negotiated the bill having sent back most of our main courses.

Not been there for about 12 months but remember it being expensive for what it was i.e. very average food for top price. Unfortunately Gosport is not blesses with many (any) quality restaurants.

When we said we would only pay for the wine, they called the police! Police arrived - and we said it was a civil matter, as we had paid what it was worth. - Fine, the police then searched all the staff handbags for drugs!!!
It was so bad that I went hungry - thats never ever happened before. Baked beens on the boat after....

I am the new landlady of the George & Dragon. We have now been fully refurbished to an excellent. We serve real ales and a selection of wines. We have an excellent menu very reasonably priced all in house prepared. We have a strict door policy (so no Gosport winoes allowed!) We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all visitors to the Gosport Marinas. Please come along and try us out I know you will be very pleased with the quality, service and costs! I could not agree more with your impressions of Gosports offerings to the Marinas and our business is aimed to completely fill the gap in service for you guys hope to see you all soon. We are situated at the entrance to Haslar Road. We are most certainly dog friendly! I am happy to offer a 5% discount to all marina visitors. I am working on some discount cards so they should arive in the near future. Please just mention ybw.com and the staff will be happy to discount all your meals eaten in. We also have a new takeaway snack menu which is well worth a try.

Bumped into a friend tonight. He lives in Gosport. Last night he went on a date & took the new lady in his life to Landers. I knew he was going out on a date but didn't realise he was going there. Otherwise of course I would have advised against it.
Apparently he phoned up to book a table & was told there was no need as they were not to busy on a Thursday night.
Having arrived they found themselves a seat. Not hard as there was no one else in the place.
The manager arrived at their table & Matthew explained that he had phoned earlier to book a table. The manager then apologised for not telling him on the phone that they were on a restricted menu.
Matt asked what that meant. Turned out that all they had on offer was a choice of two starters and one main course. That being rib-eye steak. Matt assures me it was not rib-eye but some rough grizzly inedible cut. He asked for a pepper sauce to accompany his steak. They didn't have any.
Now Matt is a straight talking guy & would have normally told them where to stuff it, but being on a first date didn't want to cause a scene.
Having sufferd the embarrassment of a **** meal he asked what they had on offer for a pudding ( duff to the ex RN ) Reply was ice-cream or a cheese board.
He paid the bill and left in disgust.
So folks pass this on by word of mouth & hopefully they will be out of business before to long. I think we would all agree that no matter how good the restaurant there will come a time where your meal might not live up to what you were expecting. Not everybody has a good day every day. But this place has a bad day every day. Just avoid the place.
They rely on bums on seats. Mine wont be one of them.

Dog friendly but not Royal Navy friendly!
I've spent many a night in the G&D whilst doing my training courses in Sultan. Always been a brilliant pub. Will have to take a visit sometime soon.

I was told today, Landers has now closed down, will open again soon, with new management.
