Google Greek

Son in law teaches new software and tests software in action his firm has made for other companies.
Asking him, he could take over my laptop from his working station ( wherever that is ) and cure the problem. However, these young guys have really not a second of spare or free time, so I am hesitant. Furthermore, he has a bad temper. Logic . I mean logic with a computer dumb ass like me and a job like that.
Last time I asked him something it took him a day ( and probably two nights ) to solve the problem and I don't want to do that to his family ever again.
He is not familiar with Wi-Fi connected problems because pro´s like him have fixed unlimited bandwidth.
Could well be that the problem lies with the Wi-Fi provider ( restaurant )
Anyway he cant read Greek. Nobody can. Except for some Greeks. I met some.

As to ask help from a Greek techie, NO.
Been a liveaboard for 29 and cruising without working for money during the last 17 years made me stay far from paid “Techie´s”.
I rather learn Greek. In fact, wouldn't mind becoming a Greek.

Well, ncr seems still to work, but it's hard to tell. I'm using Google in a browser, not a Google app, this phone us not Android (or iOS) and the browser doesn't have permission to use my location. But Google must know from the IP address that I'm in Portugal.

If you're signed in - e.g. using Google app or Android, or a browser and you used Gmail and didn't sign out afterwards - then it'll use your search preferences. That may trump any parameters in the URL - don't know.

Google is rather scary.
I like using Google earth for navigating, use GE to create charts and found Google tried to boycott the use of its cache. Or its data. No matter what you try Google takes “ His” data out of my computer.
I know ways around it, have to change all the time.
Smarter guys than I find ways to use GE anyway, I just follow their instructions.

It was raining, I was having a conversation with Google talk, and suddenly rain connected advertisements appeared on lots of sites.
So, do they know it rains at my IP location or can they hear and recognise rain noise in a conversation ?

My boat smells of old wood. Imagine to receive ads about coffins. Eek.

This might be worth a try.

In Chrome, go to settings, down to advanced settings, then to content settings and then scroll down to location and then try 'do not allow'.

If that doesn't work, maybe play with the cookie controls at the top in contents settings, or back in advanced settings, try the 'send a 'do not track' request' option.

VPN, we wouldn't be without it. Secure and you can choose the country you wish to surf without local restrictions.
