Recommend the RYA Weather Handbook by Chris Tibbs-- Clear and simple. Even made sense to a ignoramus like me.

Agree, RYA book is excellent. A good-weather book would be nice at this time of year though. Loads of pictures taken from yachts blissfully rocketting along with a nice F4.5 on the beam and beautiful sunset over the transom. Perhaps something to add to the A&C catalogue, Adlard and Coles Book of Perfect Weather Sailing. Save the heavy weather books until those summer days when we crave a bit of excitement hey.
