I received mine earlier this week. The ancillaries in the kit looks a bit tat and so I will replace exhaust hose, silencer, clips etc etc. But the heater unit itself looks to be remarkably well made. Absolutely no assembly instructions, just a couple pages on basic use, but other than working out which is the intake and which is exhaust (I know that's rather fundamental!) it will be a doddle to assemble.

If anybody knows a link to instructions I'd be grateful. I will be shoe horning this into a locker with external intake so any tips on minimum clearances, airflow etc of any locker space that are known or not in a manual will be appreciated.

Edit.

One last question. Does the unit have to lie in a specific orientation i.e. flat, upright and horizontal. As the intake and exhaust come out the bottom installation may be easier if the unit was rolled 90 degree so the intake and exhaust exited from the side.

I thoroughly read the install instructions for the D2 / D4, after all it is a complete copy of the D4.

Recommend you bench test and check the overheat cut out works on the bench test. Quite a lively thread on PBO page of the forum presently.

The important bit, the instructions? that’s part of CE compliance and should be provided, that and not paying for certification allows manufacturer to save money and not adhere to the law, perhaps if they were in it for the long term they would do the complete lot and supply all the relevant documentation the others do, could also supply parts aswell going forward and why they don’t is beyond me but if they done it properly they would likely sell a lot more and might be taken seriously by people other than those who just buy the cheapest. To me this sounds like they are just box shifters who don’t care about anything after the sale.

Did you not read recent posts on this thread. It is clear that W and E did not worry about the Law or treating people correctly..... They got fined 66 million Euro. You seem to understand little about the way the world is now going and how ebay and the Chinese work..... By the way spares are available. Just have a look again on ebay.


This thread has proved that Price is not a measure of quality or service. If you don't understand that you must have your head in the sand.

I understand very well thanks, get your head out the sand and you might too !!!

My pojnt was that if the Chinese were prepared to do it properly with compliance etc they wouldn’t be so cheap, they are just interested in the short term hit. The E & W fine was from our corrupt EC so that cant be taken too seriously at all.

Shame you cant discuss things with a bit better tone and then people might take you a bit more seriously.

I started this thread and battled through countless stupid posts many from you. I proved my point but still you thump on.... Know when you have been proved wrong.

You say the EU is corrupt but the CE mark is good...… Are you aware that the CE mark is an EU thing...…….. So which is it.

It was not the EU that was corrupt is was E and W and if you read the post in this thread you would have seen that they admitted it and avoided a 222 million fine

The other things you don't understand is that EU, UK and other laws etc don't apply in China. So they are not required to comply.

An importer is obliged to comply, which is likely why no one so far seems to be selling these on a commercial basis. Instead thousands being bought by individual buyers. However, so far I am more than satisfied with mine, as are my insurers.

I am am fitting an external safety cut to stop the pump in the event of an overheated casing. Details on the current PBO thread.

I never said they did but they do apply to anything that we import and use.

I have asked a couple of companies now if they would fit one of these heaters and both said no chance as they would be breaking the law and weren’t prepared to take a chance.

What about corrupt EU CE Mark you mentioned...… No more comment about that one
 
One has to wonder of course if the whole CE thing is applicable if you are buying off ebay as an individual for your own personal use...……. I wonder
 
Strange thing is I have had a long bubble in my fuel line but it does not seem to worry the heater. I think the pump just fill behind the bubble and carry on pushing the fuel in front of it.

Here is a short clip of what I mean. I watched this bubble for much longer than the clip and it did not move.

Ignor the illusion that I have 2 lines the second one is just a reflection

 
For the heater I am keeping in my workshop. I replaced the battery set up with a 240 - 12 v power supply from ebay. It seems to deliver a constant 12.4 volts when checked on a meter

 
In my boat I cannot fit the supplied 10 ltr tank and I don't fancy messing with the main fuel tank as I think on a diesel the main fuel line and the return fuel line are pressurised.

I therefore bought a 5 ltr tank which is a little small but should give 8 - 10 hours of run time. I will keep a 5 ltr can of heating oil on board as well.
