good tip for budget sailors

Underneath the steps to Cowes Yacht Haven office so they can keep an eye out for rich folk who don't need the facility. I now have a smart blue tiller cover from someones old spray hood.

Left the tiller extension next to the bins in Haslar after fitting a wheel, gone in a flash as was the fourth boat hook, three is enough for us.

My wife made a tiller sock from a portion of sprayhood blowing around in the boatyard. Just took some measuring and sewing. Otherwise it would simply have been binned. I always have a quick look in the skip before adding to it

A guy I once worked with used to drive around after a night shift to pick up stuff out of skips. He then sold it at car boot sales. He said even if he got a £1 for an item it was worth it. My point about fuel used driving around cut no ice.

It's the same with tents and sleeping bags after Glastonbury - my daughter usually brings back more than she takes, but does check for puke and worse before acquiring stuff.
