Some here may know that I've been looking for some sort of windvane selfsteering gear for Guapa.
Been looking for around 3 years. Initially I had wanted a Hydrovane. However, feedback from owners I contacted was not always positive. And even used, the good ones still fetch around 2K.

So, after more research I decided on an Aries or a Monitor. Monitors are rare as hens teeth this side of the Atlantic, so most likely it was going to be an Aries. Over the past 6 months, Aries came up regularly on eBay. However, the good ones all went for more than 1.5K on eBay (1.5K was the budget for the vane).

Then, two weeks ago, I got an eBay e-mail alert: a Monitor had become available. Starting price £800.
To cut a long story short: Got myself an absolute bargain and I picked it up in Great Yarmouth this morning.
It comes off an Oyster 43, so should fit Guapa with only minor modifications.

Well chuffed with this.
This is going to be our last 'refit winter'.
