When I bought my Parasail from SeaTeach, I also bought a "Tacker". This has proven invaluable when single-handing under the big downwind sail. Checked it out last week to find the snap shackle didn't anymore. Returned it to SeaTeach to see what could be done, Stuart replaced it, without question three years after I'd bought it.

I'm interested in the 'tacker'. In what way does it help you?
 
SeaTeach and Force 4 are my regular chandlers - and I've found both to be extremely helpful over a number of years.

Just bought a power windlass and 50m of chain from SeaTeach - Stuart personally delivered each item separately (the windlass was on back-order) to the Hamble for me.

There's nothing like having an old-fashioned first name relationship with the people who're serving you, to be greeting with a "Hello, how are you?" when you walk in to buy either a single screw or an expensive piece of electronics.

PS I occasionally order by phone from Piplers of Poole - also very helpful.

It obviates the need for a pole. When tacking I just unhook it and reattach it when the vessel is on the opposite tack. As it's basically a downwind sail, perhaps it ought to have been called a "Gyber" but I didn't chose the name. I can do this single-handed. I struggled with a pole.

Interesting. I haven't felt a need for the tacker when using my Para but I mostly use it more or less downwind and it flies free very nicely. Never used a pole.
