I wanted to provide you with a quick status of things here in Watchet, for you to be able to brief your club.
I am the owner (and now manager) of the marina here in Watchet and over the last few months have been making changes and investing heavily to improve the operation and upgrade the general experience that our customers receive.
Firstly, the gate is now fully back in commission and fully automatic, which is a major relief and has now been working reliably for some months.
Secondly, dredging has now been completed in 80% of berths in the marina and we have now allocated an area that will allow visiting boats to be afloat at all states of the tide and moored together to facilitate group visits. Further dredging is planned but this will not impact visitors.
Thirdly, we are currently upgrading our WC facilities and these will be completed in the next 2 weeks. We recognise that clean, modern WCs / showers are a pre-requesite to a great visitor experience which is our aim.
Lastly, we have now opened our own on-site cafe offering amazing all-day breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas from 8am to 5pm. A great place to recover from the journey to Watchet.
We have now printed our 2016 marina year books - If you would like some copies, please let me know.
I look forward to seeing you and your members in Watchet soon.
best regards

I've enjoyed our visits to Watchet 6 years ago. The dredging will be much appreciated by visitors.

Not that it has any baring on the above but I collected a huge pile of Practical Boatowners a few years ago from Nottingham, he was moving to Watchet. Swimbo has cursed him several times for the loss of her sewing space!

Just so ther is no confusion here I copied and pasted this from the BCYA on face book so I am not the new owner of the harbour ( God forbid ) but wish him and the harbour well for the future

Great news from a regular visitor, myself and other vessel owners from CYC will be over to meet/see you this year and look forward to a mud free birth :)

Visited Watchet over the May 16 bank holiday weekend.

with our 1.2 meters draught stayed afloat in a finger down by the A pontoon hammerhead.

Another boat with 1.8 m draught was on B pontoon closer to the office end than the hammerhead .His keel was in the mud slightly at low water but he was still able to leave within about 15 minutes of the gate first opening. So it would seem that the majority of the berths can now keep small cruising yachts floating.

Had a great weekend pubs were all packed ate in the Indian restaurant which is to be recommended.
