Sorry I was a little late gettng into work this morning, Heavy night on the boat got a bit pissed last night my boss took me out to dinner. He was telling me what a good job I do and that my end of year bonus (April1) should be a good one. (It will more that cover new engine and complete professional awlgrip paint job)

Having given you the good news I notice that there were approx 130 posts in my absence I have to say I am a tad dissapointed.

Good Morning?? Aren't you a little late this morning (your post was posted at 09:34)?

I know but I have a good excuse I had to go to dinner with my boss he kept me up late discussing boring things like work and bonuses I thought he would never stop.

You're lucky! My bonus has to pay for my son's Uni fees, accomodation and food and clothes. This year there saying they may not give us a bonus next year. Forever changing the goal posts.
Anyway it's worth getting pissed when your told your doing a good job.
Hope the head doesn't hurt too much?
Regards.

Peter.

Thanks Ashanta it is nice to see someone who does not make disparaging remarks a kindred spirit who knows the meaning of hard work.

For all the people who post after hours that is after 5pm and before 9am dont you have boats to go to.

I used to play cards and surf the net all day before I discovered this forum. Now when my boss is in town all he hears is me typing all day it makes him think I am hard at work emailing clients etc. Isnt the Forum great.

I met my boss for the first time last Friday in Norway. Never met my previous boss. The 2 of us here in the office only get an official visitor about once a year otherwise it's just friends who pop in for a coffee. When we get an official visit we tell our friends we've got 'grown-ups in the office' so they keep clear.

Have broadband here and at home. Boat is 10 mins away. Life's a bitch.

What refreshing honesty /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I've been getting withdrawl symptoms recently secondary to working to hard. I hate it when work invades on forum time- as you rightly say, 9-6 is the only time- I have other things to do in the evenings like drinking wine and passage planning, as well as currently dreaming up a new business venture.

New EUropean laws are being drafted to include 15minutes/hour of forum time- can't wait. Legitimate Butting

Similar set up some times bring the dogs to work. I once had a mattras in my office but took it home as it was too much of a schlep hiding it from the boss when he came over from Holland.
Isnt modern technology great. I can sit on the boat and take the transferred calls from the office. I wish the marina I am in would put in Wi Fi I could work from the boat then. Actualy I meen surf from the boat.

I will give it a bash but only business around us is restaurants etc. There is a call centre about 200yds away is that too far.

Arent clients the worst thing in the world so demanding. We get company's trying to sell us marketing tools to expand our client base man that is all I need more clients.

You would be surprised just how many small restaurants, bars and even homes have wi-fi networks.

I use my wi-fi connection in my apartment, AND in the park across the street ( on nice warm sunny dyas obviously).

The distance the signal can travel depends on the strength of the transmitting router - some may be as little as 10m, whilst more expensive ones with bigger aerials can travel 500m+

We are surrounded by apartments. I suppose if I use their gateway it wont cost them anything.
Unfortunatly my devious brain can see a whole new world of anonymous internet stalking opening up.
Beware forumites the world over.

I was in Zurich a few weeks ago desperate to get online and check emails. I finally found a grotty iittle internet cafe after much searching, and asked if i could connect my laptop. Yes they said but we only have 1 spare connection and it is being used. Don't you have wireless I asked, no came the reply.

But looking over at the 'back office' I see a netgear wireless router with a bunch of network cables connected to their machines.

Thanks I will come back later says I. I went across the (narrow) street to a cafe, ordered a coffee and sat in a window seat sorting emails and and skyping SWMBO with the wireless connection the internet cafe didn't even know they had!

Its SSID was 'default', the password to administer the router itself was not set; I could have had some real fun.

I have been meaning to install a wireless card in the onboard computer. I will go past Mr Pc and pick one up. Should have a fun weekend. If I decide not to go to Amsterdam.
