Evening all,

Just wondered if anyone can recommend any good, easy to navigate (preferably away from ferries) marinas to get to in France from Dover?

Had a few seasons boating coastal UK, and now wondering what my options are in France. Have done some googling, but can't beat personal experiences if anyone has any they can pass on.

Cheers

Most marinas have their own website and there they have the lock/access times for each day. Some might be a bit restrictive on some tides, but most have a good enough window not to panic.
Some locks will open if they see you, or more likely you just join the queuing boats. Well, when I say queuing, this being France,I mean the opposite. Otherwise, just call the lock on the radio..even if there is an unlikely language barrier, it is pretty obvious you want to get in.
Just remember, getting out, you might need to be out of your berth and claiming space in the lock and not being left behind...
But it is all very straight forward, in reality.
I would really suggest you get the Shell Channel pilot/guide..Cunliffe,brilliant book and the best money you will ever spend boating. Bring a smile to you face, for sure.

Thanks very much guys, some useful information. Just looked up the channel pilot guide book and looks quite interesting so I will get that too :-)
