Very neat installation - well done! However delete the reference to Bullflex - that is a completely different design of coup[ling. You have a Centaflex

Yes, nice. Wish my stern gear was as clean and accessible - I end up in inverted astronaut position in the starboard locker to get at mine!

Ours is through a hatch in the cockpit sole - but the sole around the hatch is not big enough to lie on to reach down through it. So you have to lie with your hips on the bridge deck, your head and shoulders through the hatch, your legs through the companionway, and your feet braced against the deckhead in the cabin. You also need to use one hand to prevent yourself sliding downwards into the hole, leaving only one hand to do any work.

My Dad and I spent most of a day taking turns in this position to repair the gearbox; only towards the end did it occur to me to take a big canvas strap, attach it to a tackle over the boom, and use it as a chest harness to lower my Dad head-first into the hole. Compared to the previous position it was so much more comfortable that he was happy to stay there to finish the job before being hauled back up again. I think he's since used the same technique to check on the stern gland, with my mum lowering him down the hole.

and thats when none of us are under way or at 45 degrees! Shudder the thought of having to make repairs in a big sea!

Im lucky to have excellent front and cockpit access - hence why the engine bay is Danboline'd !
