Over the years we have chartered with Sunsail in Greece and in the Solent a number of times without major problems.

Recently we chartered bareboat with them in the BVI and concluded the boat should not have been allowed out due to numerous basic maintenance deficiencies. Sunsail have tried to attribute the blame to their turn round staff. But twenty two specific problems ranging from intermittent electrical connections, incorrectly set up instruments, missing fixings and badly worn halyards and harnesses shows deeper issues.

To enable us to have a less stressful holiday would forumites care to recommend a bareboat charter company in the Med and/or Caribbean?

I would agree with the comments about Horizon. I have chartered from them 4 times and been very satisfied with the boats, cost and service. In the UK you have to book through Cosmos Yachting who act as their agents and are prepared to negotiate a good deal.

If the Ionian is of interest I have a Greek friend who charters out his own Beneteau 381 when he's not using her himself. As his own boat she's well maintained ( and since he's his own turnround staff he couldn't pass the buck if she wasn't ! )

We have used Nautilus to arrange bareboat and flotilla holidays - they are very good and can sort you out worldwide. If you particularly fancy Turkey, try Yildiz Yachting (Bodrum and Fethyie).
