Good anchor watch app?

Question , can you do your lat and long after wards , ? And is the lat. and long DMS or DM?

Yes and yes :)

Choice of DDD.DDDDDD° , DDD° MM.MMMM' or DDD°.MM'SS.SSSS"

Though if you don't set the position when the anchor was dropped it's actually much easier to do a long press then tell it the anchor is so many metres away at such a bearing.

I may be doing Anchor Pro a disservice with the above claim, I just looked a bit deeper and it could be my carp old phone is losing gps signal. I'll look for a way of setting a different alarm tone for that, I would hope that's available.

I use an app called Anchor. It does what it says in the tin, easy enough to set up. Anchor, note depth and how much rode you have out and work out how far the anchor is away from you, turn app on and then move anchor on app to reflect where the anchor actually is, decide how far outside that you want to move before it alarms, place iPhone by bed, sleep soundly.
Only problem I've found with it is remembering to turn it off before leaving the anchorage...

Does it sound when the screen is off? If yet to find an Apple app that does.

I use iSailor and set it as I drop the anchor from the cockpit. I’ve also done it by setting a waypoint as I drop the anchor as I then have the lat lon to enter in to other apps.

To get round the sound being muted I turn the screen brightness right down and turn off auto lock and leave it on the chart table connected to power.

Thanks for that , I been using anchor watch for some years now and found it works well , what I really like about it is that I can just take a note of where my anchor is set and then put the lat and long in after wards , in this way if for some reason the thing stop work or say the iPad closes down / switch off by mistake, I only need to put the lat and long in and away I go , what I don't like about anchor watch , is you can only use it in DM .

Anchor pro keeps a history of every position set as well so no need to take a note of lat/long. Has a share butt n as well so you can txt/msg/email your pos to mates if you want .

If you have bad reception, please move the device to a location that has better satellite reception!

Just as you find the perfect anchorage.

The app keeps working in the background once set. My iPad puts the screen to sleep after 10 minutes and the app keeps running. Indeed, that's one of the reasons why I have a tendency to forget to turn it off when we move, because it isn't obvious from glancing at the iPad that the alarm is still active....
