Hey guys - Does anyone know any good websites and blogs to get hold of Americas Cup rumours and news? I just found a NZ blog by Peter Lester who is a yachting commentator which is really good. Looking for more...

Cheers

It's all a bit depressing when wouldbe journos try and get the rest of the world to do their work for them, isn't it ?

Here we are, planet going down the chute with global warming, red diesel about to go up in price, England cricketers - yes, well-, interest rates going up all over the place, Vesuvius about to blow up and cover Europe in 5 m of ash, Los Angeles disappearing down the San Andreas fault, Antarctic ice cap drifting off in country-sized icebergs, front side light on car refuses to come on, British prisons full up again (still room in Downing street though), Marmite has changed its formulation, only 317 shopping days to next Christmas, Sainsbury's has been selling hot cross buns for the last fortnight, it's the gribble breeding season again, the National Park says I cannot fell a tree which is threatening to fall on our roof until the mating season (whose ?) is over, the Devon Tourist Bored is expecting that the Napoli will bring more tourists to the west country, The Candian permafrost is becoming a mud swamp,

and some Kiwi (whose vocabulary clearly doesn't include the word "please") wants to find specious tittle tattle about a totally irrelevant marine marketing exercise that hasn't a snowball's chance in hell of advancing the human condition not one jot, not one iota.

Anyone got a nice little drawbridge I could borrow, please ?

Unfortunately, no, just finished an overnight report for an executive committee on risks to the global economy and effects on our customer base. The possibility of bed doesn't arise until midnight tonight /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Sometimes events like F1 and Louis Vitton seem so trivial when you look at our mad career downhill.

(it's being so cheerful what keeps me going, by the way !)

Paul... this is just between you and me right? I dont want it to go any further!

Last October I bought a 29' steel cutter rigged yacht designed by Robert Tucker. I have had it moved to a top secret corner of the yard at Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club where I quickly shrouded the hull and topsides in low quality polypropolene tarps held in place by strategically placed bungies.

I have spent several weekends down at B&FYC and when I am not in the River Wyre pub, I have been quietly carrying out work which, to the casual observer might be classed as "tinkering."

In fact I have begun making some significant modifications in preparation for an event that I am hoping to participate in later in the year (I can say no more than that!)

I appreciate that this information will probably have whetted your appetite but I must ask that you do not inundate me with film crews and journos for the moment. The job is hard enough as it is without having to stop work every five minutes to brew-up for the worlds media!

Wow what a reaction, you lot are certainly very positive! errr. sarabande maybe just negative and cynical?? Whatever, the upcoming regatta (which will be the largest sailing event ever) is pretty big news here...

Raven, there is a TV around there as we speak! Haha. Not a journo by any means, I'm just a normal yachtie.

Cheers for the links Pugwash and I'm waving to Rangitoto now!!
