Thats where I have been launching lately (Park foot campsite slip).
I hope you put the mast up after it went in the water cos there are some very low trees on the track down to the water /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I waited about an hour 3 weeks ago while a guy stepped the mast and rigged his boat on the track, then he had to take the whole lot down again to get past the trees.
excellent idea to tart it up and dump it at the top of the market. Also buying a vehicle last year capable of hauling it over a awkward mountain pass to ensure it's gone for good - fab! "Any problems just bring it back to me and i'll have a look!" teehee.
We await developments regarding the tippy trimaran and the grunty powerboat. And some rather more high speed passes across the chain ferry.
Meanwhile you have earned the luxury afternoon pot of tea and double cream scones at the local caff, with moderately loud muttering permitted regarding the flippin four pounds eighty five my gran wd turn in her gave, i remeber ten shilling notes, huh call that a boat, yes i do actually live here, and no i can't give you a lift to borrowdale you'll have to get a bus.
I am kind of sad to sell Slippy, but less than 50% of trips were succesful sails and the rest were aimless drifting about with flapping sails, so we weren't getting the best out of her (there, I've given it a gender).
Upward and onward.

Ahh if only you had managed to get the forestay tight enough, maybe all your sail would have been a success. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
"Eirlys " Dave?
Nope,can't say I have.
Heard of a Fish called Wanda!
Boat called Eirlys.
Rare Welsh Girls name.
Wife has a Cousin of that name.
Rare.
"Airless", could be a good name for My dighie at the mo, cos it has a (twll) hole in it! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Although ,do have a vague memory of the sketch susyplusvatandwhatsit chronicled.
Think the Adventure made the pages National Geographic quite a few Moons ago.
No, he's launching it from Ullswater Yacht Club. He's not a member (yet) but they're charging him £20 for a few days storage and a launch, which they'll do.
The members there seemed very friendly. When a cap shorud jumped out of the groove in the end of a spreader we borrowed a laddder from one guy to clamber up the mast and free it off. (Full HSE report going in today)
There is no overhang issue there.
However, I don't think they'll go for a sportsboat! Have you looked at Waterside Farm further along the road? Bit of a rough launch, but if you've a 4x4 it should be OK. She charges about £5 to launch.
Hi we've launched there a few times now (Park Foot). Freindly people and as long as you stay close to the fence its steep enough.
It looks worse than it is, thin layer of mud over firm base. We only have a CRV like you and it pulls all 2 ton out surprisingly well. Lots of revs and wheelspin to get the namby pamby 4x4 system working. I prefer the crawler gear method of my Landrovers but I could only stand the running costs for so long.
Well worth a visit when you get your real boat back in the water. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Well the good news is that I don't have a problem with the luff tension on the headsail... the bad news is that the main isn't quite right. I think that the outhaul and kicker fittings are a little on the pathetic side of not quite up to it.
Nope. but I sailed from there with a mate in the '60s and also another mate, Chris Parkinson, has been a member there for a long while, but keeps his boat in Scotland.
Also I rigged this for my outhaul which as TK pointed out was overdoing the tension (well OK it was me).
The kicker is easier to set. Just sheet the main hard down in the centre. tighten the kicker, and then it's taken over from the mainsheet and keeps the boom down when reaching and running. Unless you mean it's so feeble it can't hold the tension.
>Just sheet the main hard down in the centre. tighten the kicker, and then it's taken over from the mainsheet and keeps the boom down when reaching and running.<
Expect something to go 'ping' eventually if you do this and don't ease the kicker when you ease the sheet as you come off the wind. If you're lucky it'll be a something in the kicker dept. Unlucky, it might be the boom.
Maybe, but it's only a little sail. Not much force involved. The first thing to go ping on Slippy would be the kicking line itself.
You've got to make these judgements for yourself when you're out on the water. As you will know, I'm not a "bar-tight" rig man myself. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
