I discovered with horror a photo of a Thames Event in a ditch magazine recently, so to correct the omission I include it here:-

(poor lady got squashed in the middle)

A more appropriate one for locals is here:-

(even MC is smiling)

For cynics amongst us perhaps this one is more apopropriate:-

[ I commit this body to the Deep (well all four foot of it)

(Thanks to the Nice EA Press Lady who told me where to look for EA pics: )

If so, do I make the cheque payable to BoatOne as usual ? :)

Firstly, No the pics are Flickr, use Environment agency "plus whatever" to locate, then it's a bit of a hassle to link them - 'cos I couldn't get a direct link to work. I downloaded them and included them as an attachment

Secondly, Yes, please keep the money flowing, it's needed..........

what was this all in aid for...?

Where they PLA types or BW? (Didnt know that BW had any Harbour Masters......)

No, they're all loyal Environment Agency staff ('cept m'lord Redgrave).
It's just that Waterways World found / or were sent the picture and made a short article on it.
Not having any magazine that caters for Thames Boaters, there was nowwhere to send it.

That challenge is being "worked on" so that TMBA can be First With The News....

The pictures taken at Bray lock were of the unveiling of the freshly gold painted lock pedestals which the EA decided would be a nice way of marking the Olympics rowing being held at Dorney Lake in the Bray Boveney reach hence the presence of Sir Steve Redgrave.

many thanks Boatone!

Still confused on a BW man wearing four stripes and scrambled egg..not to mention a two and half ringer also with scrambled egg! but the puzzle is solved many thanks!

They are not BW ! They are Environment Agency. The Four Ringer is Matt Carter, The EA HArbour Master and Operations MAnager for the non tidal Thames. The others are a little further down the pecking order but the two ringers are inspectors and team leaders who look after a particular stretch. Not sure but I think teh two and a halfer is the Enforcement Manager.

PS - Even BW isn't BW anymore - its now the Canal and River Trust but the Thames and other EA rivers are not part of that - at least not yet !

This thread presents a great excuse to bang the type one diabetes drum!

My son was diagnosed with type one when he was two years old. He is 4 and 3/4 now. Many people think diabetes is something that fat people bring upon themselves. People like Steve Redgrave and Worcester Warriors captain Chris Pennell are an inspiration to my small son and hopefully an education to others.

Only half hearted apology for thread drift. Thank you, carry on.
